Waterfalls

Today we went on a nice hike to Wahclella Falls near Bonneville Dam. We even got up early to do it. It was a nice drive and we were able to successfully load waypoints from the new maps into the GPS.

While we were at the dam - we stopped at the fish hatchery. It was full of kids on field trips and Bob and I were discussing how well we were suited because neither of us enjoy being around kids. I told him he must have loved the shit out of his ex to stay with her for 4 1/2 years when she had two small kids (one with ADD) when I was only able to give Curt 9 months after his 14 yr old daughter had moved in. He said it wasn't really that he loved her so much as he could not figure out a polite way to leave. We had this discussion on our way to the sturgeon viewing. As we are waiting for the people at the viewing window to move away so we can get closer - one of the women at the viewing window turns around and says " Bob is that you?". It was his ex's best friend. What are the odds of running into this woman from Long Beach WA at the Oregon fish hatchery? and how lucky was he we were not having the kid talk right behind her? I suggested he check his car for LoJack. He talked with her and her husband a few minutes (never introduced me). I'm sure she was on her cell to the ex as soon as we were out of earshot.

I'm a little disappointed in our new toys - the maps will only load waypoints into the GPS so we don't really get to see the cool map - just a path to follow. Also the GPS lost signal most of the hike - Bob says it's probably got a lot to do with the really high cliffs that were on wither side.

Hike was nice though - we will probably go back in the spring - there are a lot of places on the trail that will have water pouring down the hill during wetter seasons.

Bob - who has now decided he's invincible - was posing on a slippery log & (of course) slipped - landed right on his chest. He says it didn't hurt - he was waiting for it to. Yeah for him that it didn't hurt him, but I'm sure it hurt me more to watch it. I'll be really pissed at him if he dies on me now.
